Document Management System

This script uses PHP to provide you with a great interface to a MySQL server that allows you to store and retrieve documents and to share those documents between users. In addition, the system uses ACL (Access Control Lists) to grant access rights to documents on a per-user basis. It allows you to distribute project documentation on a need-to-know basis, whilst keeping a central repository of documents that is accessible to all team members and easy to manage.

txt.page

txt.page takes your content, which is in simple .txt files, and sandwiches it between your header and footer templates. As a result, changing your templates will change the look of every page at once, and the need to wade through full HTML pages to edit content is eliminated. txt.page also supports ‘breadcrumbs’ to let readers know where they are in the document, and many installations can run on the same server. txt.page is not for presenting an entire website. For more powerful site presentation software, look at my Content Management Software “Writer’s Block”.

PublishOnWebDirect 1.0

This software is based on a Cross-Browser WYSIWYG Editor, openWYSIWYG 1.0, and it is a replacement for PDFs or ‘save as html’ for us who want to publish Microsoft Word or OpenOffice Writer documents on the web. Just copy your Word document from the screen and paste it into the editor, add a filename, your e-mail and a password and your document will appear on the web. If you paste a Word document with external links, an index and a couple of foot notes into the editor, the result will be a web document that looks nearly exactly as the original document, with an index and foot notes that are linked to the right position in the document and all the external links working. You will get a personal file list and you can edit and update any document in the openWYSIWYG 1.0 powerful editing environment. Separate language files: Swedish and English. Password reminder and change filename functionality. A single MySql table and PHP 4.2 or 5.1. Register globals on or off. Free and Open Source

PHP Doc System

A modular PHP system for creating documentation. You create modules for documentation elements (installation steps, buttons, screens, etc.) and then refer to them instead of having to copy/paste information you’d want to have in 2 or more places. For example, you have an application that has buttons on a toolbar which appears on several screens. You define each button, define the toolbar and include the buttons, then define the screens and include the toolbar which in turn includes the buttons. It can run as dynamic PHP, including everything on the fly or it can output static HTML that you can include in your software distribution. Version 1.5 adds a ‘related links’ sidebar and a module generator. Offered as Donationware

XODA - the KISSed Document manager

XODA is a DMS (Document Management System) written in PHP and using AJAX. It uses no database backend, though allows adding/editing descriptions, tags and categories to files and directories, downloading files over HTTP, uploading files to the server, as well as performing regular actions like moving, renaming and deleting. It uses user identification. The password, settings and labels can be user-friendly set over the browser. The project targets end-users who want to organize all kind of documents on a remote machine running a webserver with a PHP support. Though advanced users are ancouraged to contribute changes. The goal was therefore to write the code hacker-friendly. XODA is just one file including compressed JavaScript and stores the “meta information” in php-files.

RANTS

The cleverly named Remotely Accessible Note Taking System (RANTS for short) give users a place to store personal notes about anything they want from anywhere they want. User’s can sign up and activate their account. They login and have place to add, edit, and delete notes in their own personal area. Since it’s on a website, user’s can access their notes, even add them, from anywhere! All user’s login details are completely encrypted while managing notes. There’s even an easy script to help the administrator install the system. Once installed, the administrator also has an entire private panel to manage users in any way they’d like. The system requires PHP. MySQL, and the server it’s running on to have an SMTP server (as most servers do). It should be easily installable on any operating system with a PHP-enabled web server.
